Keep track of customs authority updates: What do the new changes mean for you?
Customs regulations are constantly changing, and it is important to stay updated to avoid unnecessary complications. Here is a summary of the latest changes from the Customs Authority and how they affect you as a customer.
New requirement for simplified declaration
Starting September 2, 2024, new requirements for simplified declarations will be introduced. This change means we must provide more details in your step 1 declaration, including commodity code, net weight, and country of origin. This information is crucial to ensure accurate customs calculation and to avoid potential delays or fees.
The implementation is our responsibility, so you as a customer should not notice the change. However, it is important to note that the process will look different.

A new three-step export system
On October 1, 2024, a new system for export procedures will come into effect, replacing the current systems TDS Export and Export Control System. The new system involves digital handling and centralized clearance and will be implemented in three steps:
- Export declaration: Digital submission of the declaration to the Customs Authority.
- Notification of goods to the export office: When the goods arrive at the export office.
- Notification of goods export: When the goods leave the EU customs area.
It is important to know the different parties involved in each step and ensure that all information is accurate to avoid problems. And that’s where we come in.

The goods’ journey out of Sweden: A digital overview
To ensure accurate customs monitoring throughout the goods’ journey out of Sweden and the EU, a digital exchange of information occurs in several steps. Here is an overview of the process:
- Declaration for customs procedure or re-export: Before the Customs Authority approves the declaration, you must provide this information. The aim is to ensure that restriction conditions are met and that trade statistics are accurate.
- Under customs supervision: From the moment the export customs office accepts the declaration until the goods leave the EU customs area, customs supervision is carried out to prevent the goods from being altered or evaded from checks.
- Notification of goods to the export customs office: Upon the good’s arrival at the export office, a notification must be made so that the Customs Authority knows that the goods are on their way out of the EU.
- Notification of goods export: Once the goods have left the EU customs area, a notification must be made so that the Customs Authority receives information about the export.
- Certificate of goods export: When the goods have left the EU and the export customs office has received confirmation from the export office, the export procedure is concluded with a certificate.
